London Pit Stop, UK

Wednesday 17th July

We arrived back to Uncle Noel's today after the latest leg of our adventure, and it was so lovely, it was the feeling of coming home!

It was so lovely be back with Uncle Noel and Auntie Carmel and share our latest stories! After a delicious dinner we were exhausted and headed up to our room for an early night.

Thursday 18th July

We had a low key day, spending time with family, spotting cats outside the window and repacking for our next adventure!

Friday 19th July

We had a chill morning with Uncle Noel and wondered into Harpenden this morning, before hopping on a train to Auntie G's this afternoon.

As always, it's a party with Auntie G and we had the best night with lovely nibs, wine and chatting, and then we made Auntie G fajitas for dinner (which I think is becoming a tradition)!

Saturday 20th July - Sunday 21st July

We've had a lovely weekend spending time with Auntie G, hanging out, chatting, pottering around the garden and catching up on washing!

One of my favourite things about the UK is the tradition of a Sunday roast, and ever since I was a little girl I would always get so excited for Auntie G's roast. Today was no different, we had a lovely day spent with Auntie G and then she cooked us an amazingggg roast for dinner! It is so special to get to spend this time with her.

I then enjoyed a nice long hot bath before retiring to our fluffy bed for the night.

Monday 22nd July

It was a gorgeous day today with clear skies and warm weather, so we headed out for a day round London!

We realised we've spent so much time here but we hadn't done all the classic touristy sites! We'd been round to most of them earlier in the year but had missed a few out! So we caught the bus in and had a lovely walk through Green Park.

Green Park led us to Buckingham palace, where the Queen was unfortunately not in residence at the time (as the flying Union Jack told us!). It still felt regal to be there though!

From here we enjoyed walking the streets and made our way to Westminster Abbey and Big Ben, which were both under construction repairs, but we still felt we had to make the trip anyway!

We then jumped on the tube and headed towards the Tour of London area to meet Michelle for dinner. We had a great time catching up and a delicious meal! Michelle introduced us to a few more coupon apps that we managed to use to get a bargain dinner!

Tuesday 23rd July

It was another glorious day, so we hopped on the bus and headed out to see Chiswick house and Gardens. We both are so in love with all the stately manors and gardens and were so excited to see inside, but can you believe we picked the one day it was closed!? Not to worry, it was still absolutely magical from the outside and the gardens were just incredible and manicured and exactly like something out of Pride and Prejudice!

You would know by know that we love our 3 pound meals deals, so you guessed it, we'd stopped on the way and got one to have a picnic lunch in the larger gardens! It was such a lovely warm day, we found a little bench and soaked up the sun while munching on our lunch and people watching. It's so funny over here, I mean it makes sense in a way, but there's not much sun and not many nice beaches, and when there is some people make the most of it, people find parks, gardens, any patch of grass they can and just sunbath on the grass! What?! It seems like such a strange sight to us, just any patch of grass dotted with people without tops on!

After our lovely lunch we wandered through the beautiful gardens for a while, before heading down to the river.

We walked along the river all the way to Hammersmith to visit the old stomping ground and show Sam around. It was so lovely to visit such a special place which holds so many memories. We followed the path along the Thames that we used to walk/ scooter along as a family, saw all the old spots which were best for scootering, passed where we used to feed the ducks, The Old Ship and The Blue Anchor pubs where we'd stop for a lemonade (a pint for dad!) and meet up with one of mums' friends.

We wandered up our old route to see Granny's old house and then showed Sam the route to the one and only Plough and Harrow!

The walk along the river (and memory lane) was so lovely, but we'd underestimated how hot it would be today! It was a bit of a heatwave day and we were sweltering, so we decided to try and find a cold drink from Starbucks before catching the bus back to Auntie G's!

Wednesday 24th July

We spent the morning at Auntie G's and then wandered down to the local Tesco and grabbed ourselves a meal deal and headed out for a picnic in the glorious weather.

We went for a wander heading towards Syon house and found a field on the way there. We plonked ourselves down on a log in the shade and enjoyed our picnic, watching the long grass sway in the wind and marvelling at the planes passing overhead, thinking how many hundreds of people arrive into Heathrow every minute.

After a lovely lunch we continued walking until we came to Syon House, and what a beautiful manner she is!

There was also a garden centre a little further along, which we excitedly popped into. We'd heard about the amazing garden centres in the UK and had it on our list to visit one while we were here, so what a great surprise that we stumbled across one today!

It was so pretty inside with such a variety of colourful plants.

After wandering around for a while we headed back outside and sat under a tree just basking in the day.

We eventually made our way back to Auntie G's, packed ourselves up and headed into London to catch our bus to Oxford for our next adventure!
