Friday 22nd March
Today was a travel day back to London.
We left Paris on a Flixbus and crossed the English channel through the tunnel on a bus, in a train, under the sea!
We arrived in at Victoria Coach Station 8 hours and one Shrek movie later (1hour ahead of schedule!). From here we made the journey across to Auntie Geraldine’s place where we were greeted with an amazing dinner of lasagne, garlic bread, salad, and vino (yummmmmmm).
We had such a lovely evening catching up and just being together, before we headed off to bed.
Saturday 23rd March
After a massive day of travel yesterday we all had a chilled out day around the house, pottering around and just hanging out together.
Then the night began! We had such an amazing night. It was Thai Night at Auntie G's and we just all had so much fun together.
Auntie G had organised an entrée of prawn cocktails and spring rolls and I tried my hand at some vegetable art for the dish!
Then for mains, Sam and I were on the Pad Thai and Auntie G was on the red curry. It was good fun just everyone cooking, sharing a bottle of wine and having a good time, sharing stories, and Auntie G has to be hands down the best cook I know. That curry, I can still taste it thinking about it now, it was so delish!
Tonight was one of the best nights. I'm so happy to be able to have this time to spend with my beloved Aunt over here.
Sunday 24th March
We had a classic Sunday morning sleep in followed by a big cook up for brekkie.
Everyone just pottered around for the morning and then Auntie G took us out to Kew Gardens for the afternoon!
It was such a lovely afternoon out. We spent hours strolling through the gardens taking in all the beautiful blossoming trees and flowers.
There were some indoor greenhouses housing more tropical species, and we could climb the spiral staircase and walk around the top!
There was also a tree top walk which was super fun, where you climb up and as the name suggests, walk along a path at canopy level.
It was really lovely to spend the time with Auntie G and look at all the gardens.
We eventually headed back home, and of course being Sunday, we had a Sunday Roast!
It was heavenly, I don't know how she does it, but no one can produce food like she can. We had the most divine roast with the works; beef, carrot, roast potato, broccoli, mushy peas, cauliflower cheese, parsnips, gravy, and of course Yorkshire puds!!
This was all then followed by apple pie and custard!
After another lovely evening it was time for bed.
Monday 25th March
We started off the day with Richmond sausage sandwiches at Auntie G's (Yummm) and had a nice morning there before packing ourselves up and heading across to Uncle Noel's.
We had a lovely evening catching up with Uncle Noel, Auntie Carmel, and Aoife, sharing stories and just enjoying time together.
Tuesday 26th March
Today was spent repacking our bags! We swapped our winter woolies (well, most of them) for summer clothes we had stashed at Uncle Noel's, and nipped down to Sainsbury's to pick up our last bits and pieces.
We managed to pack lighter again this time and both now have much smaller bags!
The evening was so lovely, and so much fun just hanging out with Uncle Noel and Auntie Carmel, talking about life and listening to stories and top tips for where we are going. It is so nice to be able to make the most of being in the same hemisphere and be able to pop in to visit family.
